Goodbye 2010

I didn't do Christmas Cards this year.  I thought I would do a little blog recap of 2010.

We got to play in REAL snow!  There was a 10 day stretch that it never got above freezing.

The lego frenzy started in our house. At some point even Christmas toys are just not enough to get you through winter.

Mark installed aluminum fence around the pool.

We visited family in Florida for spring break.

The girls played tee ball for the first time. They were on the same all girl team which they all named Pink Panthers.  The girls got there first ever trophy. Hey it is a big deal!

Nathan turned 4.  He likes anything Star Wars or Lego. If it happens to be Lego Star Wars even better!

Mark made Nathan's dresser to match his bed.

Mark and I ordered furniture for our room and we redecorated. Crown molding, new closet doors, and furniture.  Very nice hideaway.

Once the bedroom project was finished Mark started to tear down our deck.

Madison age 7 got a space maintainer, four teeth pulled and now visits the Orthodontist every three months.

Back to Florida in July.  My cousin decided to move that date of her wedding so we "had" to go back to Florida.  Mr. and Mrs. Esposito congrats!   She married the son of our contractor for our addition in Florida (how small is this world?)  I got to scrapbook for a weekend, go to a wedding, hang out at the beach, visit family and friends and meandered home about three weeks later.

I big highlight of Nathan's summer was the NASA museum had a Star Wars traveling display.

We have been in our house for a year.  (April 2011we will be in North Alabama for 2 years)

I declared the guest room my craft room and bought a dining room table to take up all the extra space.

Alex started kindergarden.

Mark's dad came up for Labor Day weekend to help Mark tear out part of a wall to make it a half wall.  (do you all see a trend)  This project is not done because the weather got nice and Mark started the deck.  Mark is almost finished with the new deck.  I will get to paint it in the spring.  He will finish the foyer this winter.  Hopefully start the drywall (in place of paneling) in the family room this winter too.

I painted and redecorated the upstairs bath.  M & M's  theme.

Alexandra turned 6!  She loves art and takes art classes.  She is talented in this area more than the other two kids.  Madison and Nathan each took one art class and never wanted to do it again.  In the past year Alex has taken four classes and will start another one in January.

Karen came to visit late October into the first week of November ~ fall is so pretty here.

Madison will turn 8 this month.  She loves to read and I often have to tell her to finish the chapter and put the book down for a bit.  She loves dogs, chocolate and reading.

That is 2010 in a nutshell.  Just busy being a family of five and fixing up the fixer upper.  I'm sure I missed something huge..... HA!  I did forget my parents moved here labor day weekend! Nana and Pop live in the same town after two years. So nice to have them around again. They will be married for 35 years Jan. 3.  That is awesome!

Top 10 Things I Don't Miss About Facebook

It has been 24 days since I changed my password and logged off Facebook. I have logged on twice to see if anyone messaged me and logged back off. Which I am glad that I did because someone messaged me about math tutoring. The only thing I missed was if someone had had their baby. I was interested to know and while I tried so hard to stay off Facebook I did search her name just to see if she had the baby. Then I thought if she did have the baby and I don't know then are we really friends?   We are not friends by the true definition, just virtual Facebook friends. Top 10 Things I Don't Miss About Facebook 1. Selling of Rodan & Fields, LuLaRue, 31, Ketones or Scentsy.  I like some of these products and support you 100% and hope you do well.  The multiple posts on your product daily but nothing else in your life, blah. 2. Bragging. I love to see pictures of your vacation, if it isn't the only time you are on Facebook. 3. Posting fake news. 4. Making a comment I ...

One Word Can Actually Make a Difference

I choose not to work. I do understand that people don't have a choice and have to work outside of the home for a pay check to buy food and shelter.  One parent in my house must work. I also feel some don't really have to work and choose to work for luxury items.  I have talked to people that say there is no way they could be a stay at home parent and choose to go to work. Why do we as parents belittle each other in our choices.  Recently on Facebook (some say a necessary evil, but I think it is just evil) A parent commented   "...for the parent that actually works".  Wow, only one word makes that sentence sting.  I try not to let these words on Facebook hurt me or give them a second thought but I am a wordy person and I think about words.  The sentence takes a different tone if it was written, "for the parent that works".  The word "actually" implies negative things to those that don't work. For the parent that works I understand that a 30 ...

Queen of Google

Day in and day out I am frustrated with myself because I didn't take the time to write.  I want to write but I find myself not writing anything but thinking about writing.  I love to read and make time for reading but I find myself often just thinking about writing and not actually writing.   I am not sure what will ever motivate me to write daily.  Being a mom to three tween/teens in a huge job.  Especially when one is being homeschooled this year.  I find myself saying things like, when the dishes are done or when the laundry is done then I will write.  Just let me check all this school work first and then I will write.  When it is quiet, I will write.  This could be why I never write.  It is never quiet in this house.   Today I have had enough.  I am not about new year resolutions but I am going to make the commitment today to write daily.  I ideally would like to write not just for the blog but novel writing. ...
