A's

The last day of school has come and gone.  Still no official word on moving up a grade.  What I do find very exciting is the last nine weeks my daughter made straight A's.  Not surprising but she spent one nine weeks in second grade, the last of four and still made straight A's.  Just more data to prove the move will be a good one for her.

Also, I had a parent from that class yesterday tell me that her daughter really enjoyed having Alex in class.    This might not sound like a huge deal but being accepted by new peers and getting along with those kids is something they look at in moving a student up a grade.

The gifted teacher is working so hard for a few students even though the final bell has rung.  I am so appreciative of their efforts.  For now we joke with Alex about what grade she is in.....because we don't know.  She said that makes her feel stupid (that is a first).  It is all in good fun.  She knows their is a possibility of not moving and she said if she goes to second grade next year she wants the same teacher.

We meet next week for a conference.  Two days after school is officially over.  Teachers are never officially done.

Break is over!

Wow! It took me some time to log onto Blogger. I always feel like it is a test when I have to remember a password on an account. I couldn't remember the email or password. That is when you know it has been awhile.  I started a new blog on wordpress. I have been writing but it is all about crafty DIY project and organization. Someone asked me a few weeks ago if I ever use Box of Chocolates and I was sad to say, "No".  So here I am with a renewed outlook on Box of Chocolates.  You never know what you are going to get, but here I am again so at least it will be something. For a year I have been wanting to do National Novel Writing Month. It is the month of November.  The process has already started for me. I have been reading books on writing and doing research on some of the ideas I have for my Novela. Novel sounds so much better to me in Spanish. I think I have written about things in different languages sometimes just sound better. I think it was a post on my ...

NaNoWriMo & Peeps

peeps pēps/ noun  informal people (often used to refer to a person's friends or associates). "thanks for the feedback, peeps!" If you choose to do NaNoWriMo you have got to explain to the ones you love and cherish what you are doing in November. The more warnings the better. I told my husband a year before I started NaNoWriMo that I wanted to   do a month writing challange and explained the details. I didn’t talk about it all year but once October came around I started to talk more about NaNoWriMo. I talked about it so much my second year that my kids wanted to do NaNoWriMo too.   It was fun to do some writing prep with my kids.   My oldest has already set a goal for this year.  If you have kids you should check out the  Young Writers Program .  They can set word goals. I like encouraging my kids to write with me. It might even help me justify writing on Saturday and Sunday when I have a kid or two a...

Ripples

I am always surprised by people that toss rocks into the water and expect there to be no ripple. Social media is a crazy phenomena in your current world. Social media here you can post your thoughts, pictures and tweet (limited to 140 characters) for the world to see in an instant.  Where apparently you can say things you would never say to someones face. With this phenomena is the ability for people to rant and complain about anything. There is good in social media but the ones that toss boulders into the water not expecting to get wet amaze and entertain me. My personal favorite although I don't think it is considered social media but is up for debate is the blog. My blog is where I can rant or rave for more than 140 characters. I blog when the 140 characters can no sum up the thoughts, feelings or epiphanies that the day has had for me. I love social media. I hate social media. The information that we can get at our finger tips is quick and easy and with social media I can s...
