11 Years

Mark and I got married 11 years ago today.  Time flies when you are having fun!

The girls got up in the 5 am hour this morning.  Yes, 5 am.  They thought I was asleep and kept sneaking in my room to put stuff on the night stands.  It was so hard not to laugh because they were trying so hard to be quite.  They had a plan before they came in our room but Madison would say  things like, "okay, you go that way I'll go this way."  They would walk really slow into the room and then run out.

Mark and I just giggled every time they left.  They came in and out at least four times.  If it had been light out they would have know we were awake.  They made us cards and left candy hearts.  When they were done they went back to their room and turned off the light and pretended to be asleep.

When Nathan got up they came to our room and told us they came in the middle of the night to leave us our cards. Madison said it was midnight.  It was almost 6 am she has not concept of time.  I should really work on that with her.  They also brought us pretend food for breakfast in bed.

I love them all very much.  What a great blessing to have three kids and be married for 11 years. Mark's 35th birthday is tomorrow.  I told Mark to take Nathan to Disney.  They both would get in for free.  I doubt he will do it but I have all day to talk him into it.

2 AM Musings

I have been wide awake since before 2 AM. Wide eyed and well, not so bushy tailed. This is the second day in a row. Why?  No really, why? This is the second day in a row my brain refuses to turn off for longer than a few hours. It's like half my brain wants to party and the logical side knows this is not a good thing.    As a mom of three on the first day of a new school year I am sitting in the family room in the dark thinking of all the things I can't do right now. I am also lamenting summer. Today summer break officially ends. At least I am up in time to get the kids to school.   I am not excited for today. It has a few milestones that we can not put off. I will not drive to the elementary school for the first time in eight years. I will be dropping my youngest off at middle school and my oldest at the high school. Also the middle child decided to go back to school so I will not be homeschooling this year.   In a few hours my kids will wake up and ...

Queen of Google

Day in and day out I am frustrated with myself because I didn't take the time to write.  I want to write but I find myself not writing anything but thinking about writing.  I love to read and make time for reading but I find myself often just thinking about writing and not actually writing.   I am not sure what will ever motivate me to write daily.  Being a mom to three tween/teens in a huge job.  Especially when one is being homeschooled this year.  I find myself saying things like, when the dishes are done or when the laundry is done then I will write.  Just let me check all this school work first and then I will write.  When it is quiet, I will write.  This could be why I never write.  It is never quiet in this house.   Today I have had enough.  I am not about new year resolutions but I am going to make the commitment today to write daily.  I ideally would like to write not just for the blog but novel writing. ...

Low Expectations

Mark and I took the kids a couple of years ago to Orlando for a weekend.  Nathan was less than a year old, Alexandra must have just turned 2 and Madison was 4.  I look back and laugh but at the time it was anything but funny.  A trip to Disney would be fun and relaxing right?  HA!  We never even made it to Disney because Madison was so ornery the day we were going to go I couldn't justify going.  We learned a lot about being parents of three young kids that weekend.   During our stay we took the kids to the Rainforest Cafe.  Nathan was terrified the whole meal and after our $75 lunch Madison threw up all over the table and floor.  That is when Mark made the rule we don't take the kids to a restaurant unless it has a drive thru, curbside doesn't count.  We really do stick to that rule and the only sit down "nice" restaurant we go to with the kids is Sonny's BBQ.  Before we left I wanted to get the kids a little something from the Disney Marketplace.  I took the...
