6:25 am

That is what time I got out of bed to get Nathan more apple juice.  Mark brought him into our room to "sleep" with me.  Once his juice was gone he demands more.  Let me just say it is still dark out and I never like being told by a two year old what to do especially when the sun isn't even shining.  SO, for the millionth time in the past five years I have to have the talk with one of my children on why we don't yell at mommy and why you need to ask the nice way for something you want.

I get up to get more apple juice to find none, zero, not a drop.  I think I said out loud something along the lines of "this day is going to be bad".  The good thing about all this is Nathan's heart wasn't really in the right place at 6:25 am, daddy put him back in bed.

6:30  I'm awake so I take a shower because I am going to make it to bible study on time today.  It starts at 10 am.  I will have plenty of time right? It is three and a half hour from now.  HA!

6:45  I don't realize until number one asked for Cherrio's for breakfast that we have no milk either.  Confirmation that this day is not getting off to a great start.

7:54 Number one leaves with car pool and we are left with number two and three.  Number two complains she is still hungry.  Good new is I am dressed.  We are going to be on time.  So, I make eggs.  Bagels and cream cheese weren't enough for my little darlings. Nathan just licked all the cream cheese off of the bagel, so of course he is still hungry.

My goal to leave by 9:25 because I have to get a friend on the way to church.  I have over an hour so things are looking good.  In order to leave by 9:25 I have to get a car seat in the dryer because someone didn't tell me on the trip to Joann's yesterday that he had to go pee.  Needless to say I have to get the car seat back together or I can't leave.   Mark helps me and gets it all back together and it the car.  I think we are doing great until I go to buckle Nathan in and it won't latch.  UGH!  My husband put the buckles on backwards. Which backwards is better than what I could do.  Have you ever taken apart a 5 point harness car seat?  Mark takes the car seat apart, again. While Nathan plays in the van for 10 minutes before Mark gets it fixed.

We are running 10 minutes late.  Here is where I get myself into trouble.  STARBUCKS!  I had this stop in my original plan but we are running late now.  There were only two people in line. I can go and still make it to my friends house and to church in the next 15 minutes.  The pumpkin spice frappy makes me forget all about no apple juice, no milk and a car seat mishap.  I am exactly 10 minutes late because I have to drop off number 2 and 3 in different rooms for child care.  Good news is that I have a wonderful friend that saves me a seat.  At this point it is only 10:10 am.  I will spare everyone from the rest of our day that includes no naps, car circle, swim lessons, homework and the usual night time routine.

I feel your pain, I've been there and done that. But you made it to Bible study and got Starbuck's...what else is needed?

Low Expectations

Mark and I took the kids a couple of years ago to Orlando for a weekend.  Nathan was less than a year old, Alexandra must have just turned 2 and Madison was 4.  I look back and laugh but at the time it was anything but funny.  A trip to Disney would be fun and relaxing right?  HA!  We never even made it to Disney because Madison was so ornery the day we were going to go I couldn't justify going.  We learned a lot about being parents of three young kids that weekend.   During our stay we took the kids to the Rainforest Cafe.  Nathan was terrified the whole meal and after our $75 lunch Madison threw up all over the table and floor.  That is when Mark made the rule we don't take the kids to a restaurant unless it has a drive thru, curbside doesn't count.  We really do stick to that rule and the only sit down "nice" restaurant we go to with the kids is Sonny's BBQ.  Before we left I wanted to get the kids a little something from the Disney Marketplace.  I took the...

True Friends

I am on Facebook daily and love flair.  I had a local friend send me flair that said , " True friendship isn't being inseparable. It's being separated and nothing changes."  I'm hoping that once I leave this area I have many friends that are true friends.  This post is an ode to such a friend.  One friend of mine moved away many years ago and I realized the other night that she is that just that friend.  It doesn't matter if time or many miles separates us she is a true friend.  I realized after a long conversation on the phone with that person (her mostly listening) that I have a gem of a friend and I am so grateful for her.  I just wanted to send out a shout to that person, you know who you are and let you know I think your the best!   Maybe one day God will let us live in the same city.   It is funny as you get um... well.... older you start to have friends all over the country.  I do have many friends all over the place and each of you are special to me.  ...

Intentional Spending

I first want to say I am not cheap!  I don't buy the cheapest item just because I want to save money.  I do like finding a good deal on things that are high quality.  I don't like sacrificing quality for price.  I try to never pay full price for anything.   When I say our spending it intentional what I mean is that Mark and I sit down around November and hash out the budget.  Some things are constants in the budget.  Mortgage, phone, insurance pretty much stay the same.  Some vary like gas, water, electric.  After years of budgeting we can average out what we spent the year before and add if needed to the new budget.   Here is what we do know we have to pay something first so they go in the budget first.  Then what is "leftover" is up for dividing.  This is not a fool proof plan. Medical never gets budgeted enough money.  Which is why you should have a savings account.  Every category gets a set amount of money tha...
