Mt. Everest

Things are slow going at the house. The laundry room will get done, but not how or when we expected. In almost every home project things happen you didn't expect, like a new 80 gallon water heater. It was in the laundry room and Mark decided to move it and well we just bought a new one. The laundry room was my idea so I can't say it was a bad idea. I still think it is a great idea just had no idea what I was saying a the time. Plumbing ran all up and down that wall and side to side like spaghetti in a bowl. Of course you don't know this until you take down the drywall. Have I told you Mark hates plumbing? He is a DIY mad man.

Okay imagine between the two black drain pipes will be a door. So the dryer vent (big tube in the middle of the mess) had to be moved. Again not easy! Mark figured it out. Had to take out some wood spacers via the ceiling. (already missing, so not a big deal) He got a new tool so all is good right?

There is a difference and it makes all the difference in the world. Copper piping is gone and the dryer vent has been moved. Mark is going to take the kids to "cash" in on the copper because he used PVC when he moved the plumbing for the water heater.

Let me just add getting an 80 gallon water heater up on a stand is not an easy task for the everyday homeowner. Thankful for good old Egyptian technology, the incline plane! That thing when empty is heavy. I felt like after days of owning the darn thing I had conquered Mt. Everest once it was in its place. FYI it is code to have it at least 18 inches off the garage floor. And that stand isn't moving unless the wall comes with it. So, the whole time Mark and I were trying to push it up the ramp Madison in the background was saying, " this isn't a good idea, I don't think this is a good idea, this is a bad idea." Now where does she hear that? It had the potential to go very bad, but it didn't and all is good.
Okay so here is a picture of my Mt. Everest. Notice the door to the right (house) and door in front of the ladder? This would have to be my path to the old laundry room. Out from the house into the garage back into the laundry room. The new path with be into this room via....
Makes sense to the one who does the laundry and worth every penny! Wall left of the door is the spaghetti wall that should have a door soon. Laundry access via my craft room! What more can a girl want? I consider it my 33rd birthday present. SHH don't tell Mark! Plus it adds resale value to the house. Well, that is my story and I'm sticking to it.

We didn't realize Mark was so handy, we would have hired him for our remodeling business!!

Break is over!

Wow! It took me some time to log onto Blogger. I always feel like it is a test when I have to remember a password on an account. I couldn't remember the email or password. NaNoWriMo & Peeps

peeps pēps/ noun  informal people (often used to refer to a person's friends or associates). "thanks for the feedback, peeps!" If you choose to do NaNoWriMo you have got to explain to the ones you love and cherish what you are doing in November. The more warnings the better. I told my husband a year before I started NaNoWriMo that I wanted to   do a month writing challange and explained the details. I didn’t talk about it all year but once October came around I started to talk more about NaNoWriMo. I talked about it so much my second year that my kids wanted to do NaNoWriMo too.   It was fun to do some writing prep with my kids.   My oldest has already set a goal for this year.  If you have kids you should check out the  Young Writers Program .  They can set word goals. I like encouraging my kids to write with me. It might even help me justify writing on Saturday and Sunday when I have a kid or two a...

"Normal"

Psalms 62:8 Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge . This past year has been something else to say the least. From October to October, okay not quite a year but WOWSER! Didn't see that freight train coming. I have to reflect. I have been reading my blog entries going back to October of last year. Part of me can believe it has been a year since all this started and part of me feel like it was forever ago. Daily I have to turn my cares over to the Lord, carry my cross and trust with a faith that can move mountains. Recap~ October 2008 ~ The company Mark is contracting for is a pool company and is really feeling the effects of the economy and crisis and has to cut back. Mark was not the first to go but his time is up the first week of October. November 2008 ~ hint of a job in Raleigh NC. The person hiring has to wait until January to see if they get a contract or not. Very surprised at the lack of jobs in the Tampa area...
